About

Ape Escape is a 3D platformer where you chase down escaped lab monkeys across different time periods before they wreck history. You're armed with gadgets like a stun club, net, and slingshot, all controlled via the DualShock's analog sticks—one for movement, one for swinging tools. Each ape has its own behavior pattern; some hide, others attack, and a few wear helmets that block your net. Levels span prehistoric jungles, medieval castles, and futuristic cities. The analog control was mandatory at launch, making this one of the first PlayStation games to require the DualShock controller. It's built around spatial awareness and timing rather than precision jumps. If you like collect-a-thon structure with quirky tone and don't mind tank-ish camera angles, it holds up.
