Aquaria is a 2D action-adventure game set entirely underwater. You play as Naija, a solitary sea-dweller searching for her lost family across an interconnected ocean world. Navigation spans kelp forests, sunlit shallows, pitch-black abysses, and ruins hinting at vanished civilizations. Combat and exploration use a song-based magic system—Naija learns melodies that transform her form, solve environmental puzzles, or interact with sea life. The world is handcrafted by a two-person team, with fully voiced narration throughout. Progression is Metroidvania-style: new abilities unlock previously inaccessible areas. Expect environmental storytelling through scattered ruins and creature behaviors rather than heavy dialogue. The tone leans contemplative, with long stretches of solo swimming punctuated by creature encounters. If you're comfortable with slower pacing and minimal hand-holding, the setting rewards curiosity.
