Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30
Squad-based WWII shooter where you command paratroopers during the D-Day invasion's opening days. You're Sgt. Matt Baker, scattered behind enemy lines in Normandy with your 101st Airborne unit. The campaign spans eight days of historically recreated battles, pulling from Army photos and veteran accounts. Combat centers on tactical positioning—you direct fire teams to suppress enemies while flanking with another squad, mirroring actual infantry doctrine. Your soldiers aren't disposable; each of the 20+ squadmates has distinct traits, and their survival competes with mission objectives. The AI on both sides uses suppression and maneuver tactics rather than charging blindly. Multiplayer lets you control AI fireteams against other players. Battlefields match real Normandy locations down to hedgerow layouts. This leans harder on small-unit tactics than run-and-gun reflex shooting.
