Contra Force is a run-and-gun shooter where you control C-Force, a counter-terrorism unit defending Neocity from the D.N.M.E. criminal syndicate. Unlike earlier Contra games with alien invasions, this spinoff pits you against human enemies across urban and industrial environments. You pick from four operatives—each with different weapons and abilities—and blast through side-scrolling stages filled with gunfire and explosions. Levels include harbor docks, highways, and enemy bases. You can switch characters mid-mission depending on the situation. Expect tough patterns of incoming fire, platforming sections, and boss fights against D.N.M.E. commanders. The NES hardware struggles here, causing slowdown when the screen fills with sprites. For players who want Contra's frantic shooting but don't mind a grittier, less polished take.
