Third-person action RPG where you explore an interconnected medieval fantasy kingdom as an undead warrior. Combat demands precise timing—each swing drains stamina, so button-mashing gets you killed. You'll die repeatedly to enemies and multi-phase bosses, respawning at bonfires (checkpoints) while most foes return. Death means losing your collected souls (currency and XP) unless you retrieve them before dying again. Lordran's world loops back on itself through shortcuts and elevators, no fast travel initially. Multiplayer lets you read cryptic player messages, summon help for tough areas, or get invaded by hostile players. Character builds vary: heavy armor tanks, nimble dagger users, magic casters. Story unfolds through item text and environmental clues rather than cutscenes, piecing together why gods abandoned this decaying realm. Expect 40+ hours for a first playthrough if you don't quit.
