Hypnospace Outlaw
Point-and-click puzzle game set inside a fictional '90s internet accessed through sleep. You're a volunteer moderator tasked with policing a network of user-made pages—flagging copyright violations, harassment, and other rule-breaks for rewards. Navigation mimics old web browsers: click links, bookmark sites, use a search engine that's often unhelpful. Between assignments, you'll dodge pop-up ads, download questionable software, and customize your desktop with screensavers and wallpapers. The internet itself is the puzzle. Solving cases means digging through nested pages, following obscure references, and piecing together what users are actually doing behind their garish GIF-laden homepages. Expect MIDI music, guestbooks, and intentionally clunky UI. It's detective work filtered through dial-up nostalgia, where the evidence is buried in HTML and your tools are bookmarks and patience.
