Lichess

Lichess is a free online chess platform where you play against people worldwide. You can jump in anonymously or create an account to track ratings and progress over time. The site runs on community donations, so every feature—from standard games to puzzles and training modules—costs nothing. Game modes cover blitz, rapid, classical, and variants if you want to mix things up. The puzzle trainer throws positions at you to solve, helping you recognize patterns faster. Training tools break down openings and endgames with interactive lessons. The interface is clean and loads quickly, no ads or paywalls blocking anything. If you're learning chess or already play regularly, Lichess gives you everything you need without asking for a credit card.
