Live A Live
Live A Live is a turn-based RPG split into seven standalone chapters, each with its own genre, cast, and setting—ranging from Westerns to sci-fi to mecha. You pick a chapter, play through its self-contained story (usually 1-2 hours), then move to another. Core combat stays consistent across all chapters, but each adds mechanical twists: the ninja chapter uses stealth and infiltration, while others emphasize different tactical approaches. After clearing all seven, two final chapters connect the disparate storylines and reveal how they relate. It's modular storytelling—you can tackle chapters in any order, see wildly different tones and conflicts, then watch the game tie them together. Works well if you want bite-sized RPG scenarios without committing to a single 40-hour arc.
