NHL Breakaway 98 is a hockey sim with all 26 NHL teams and over 600 licensed players. Player models vary by position—defensemen are taller, wingers quicker—and the AI adapts tactics per team: some forecheck hard, others trap or dump-and-chase. You get five modes: Exhibition, Season, Playoffs, Practice, and Shoot-Out. The create-a-player tool lets you design custom skaters with names that show on jerseys. Winning games in season mode earns bonus points you spend on coaching upgrades, player development, and injury recovery. It's a straightforward package for anyone who wants mid-90s NHL action with roster depth and some strategic AI variety.
