Othello

Othello is a two-player strategy board game where you place discs to flip your opponent's pieces by trapping them between yours. Each disc has two colors—yours on one side, theirs on the other—and capturing a line of enemy discs converts them to your color instantly. The board state changes constantly as control swings back and forth. You can play against a friend locally or face a computer opponent. This 1982 BASIC version recreates the straightforward interface of early microcomputer adaptations, stripping away modern flourishes for pure tactical play. Matches are quick but require thinking several moves ahead. It's abstract strategy at its simplest: no luck, no hidden information, just reading the board and planning your angles.
