Rise of the Triad: Dark War

Rise of the Triad is a first-person shooter where you gun through a fortress monastery as part of HUNT, a UN taskforce stranded on an island after your escape boat explodes. You're hunting a cult leader bent on mass murder. Built on an engine that adds vertical space to the Wolfenstein 3D formula, levels stack platforms as floating staircases and include jump pads that launch you—and enemies—over tall obstacles. Everything's still block-based geometry, but you'll navigate multiple floor heights instead of flat mazes. Expect straightforward corridor shooting with added verticality, plus the era's signature secret-hunting and key-card progression. It's old-school run-and-gun that trades labyrinth sprawl for up-and-down navigation.
