Shantae and the Pirate's Curse

Shantae and the Pirate's Curse is a 2D action-platformer where the half-genie protagonist loses her magic and must partner with her rival, pirate Risky Boots, to lift a curse threatening Sequin Land. Without transformation abilities, Shantae instead acquires pirate gear—flintlock pistol, scimitar, cannon, special boots, and hat—to navigate cursed islands and labyrinths. Combat relies on hair-whipping attacks you can upgrade, plus unlockable fighter moves. Exploration involves finding maps, collecting Heart Squids, and gathering loot across interconnected areas that open as you gain new tools. The game features multiple endings depending on your choices, a pirate-themed alternate mode, and a cast leaning into absurdist humor. Expect Metroidvania-style progression: backtrack with new gear to reach previously blocked zones.
