Terranigma is an action-RPG where you play as Ark, a boy tasked with resurrecting Earth's continents, life forms, and civilizations. The game unfolds across four chapters. You start in Crysta, an underworld village frozen by a cursed box you opened. Conquering towers gradually restores your neighbors and rebuilds the surface world's landmasses. Once topside, you revive plants, birds, animals, and eventually humans. The third act shifts focus: you travel between cities, spurring technological progress and urban growth. This leads to resurrecting Beruga, a scientist with a genocidal vision. You're revealed as a pawn of Dark Gaia, forcing a confrontation with your light-half. The finale sees you reborn, defeating Beruga and Dark Gaia in turn—though victory erases the underworld, including Crysta. It's structured like a myth about creation's cost, with combat and puzzle-solving threaded through each resurrection phase.
