About
Thunder Blade is a helicopter shoot-'em-up where you pilot through urban environments, blasting enemy aircraft and ground targets. The arcade release used sprite-scaling tech to simulate 3D depth as you weave between buildings—a visual trick that gave city structures a sense of height and proximity. Home console ports dropped this effect, flattening the experience considerably. You're alternating between top-down and behind-the-helicopter perspectives as waves of enemies close in. It's pure reflex shooting: dodge incoming fire, lock onto targets, keep moving. The scaling gimmick was the main draw in arcades, so without it, you're left with straightforward action that doesn't reinvent much.
