Touhou Rei'iden: The Highly Responsive to Prayers

Touhou Rei'iden is a breakout-style shooter where you control shrine maiden Reimu Hakurei, who bounces a Yin-Yang Orb to destroy cards and enemies. Using her gohei stick, you strike, slide, or shoot the orb across each stage while dodging enemy projectiles. Only the orb deals damage—Reimu herself can cancel incoming shots or deflect them, but contact with bullets or the orb costs a life. Stages escalate toward boss fights every five levels, cleared by eliminating all enemies or defeating the boss. You pick between Hell or Makai paths at the start, each with distinct stages and endings. It's breakout meets bullet hell: positioning matters as much as reflexes, since one mistake ends your run. Expect pattern recognition and tight orb control rather than free-aim shooting.
