In Touhou Rei'iden: The Highly Responsive to Prayers, players meet Shrine Maiden Reimu Hakurei as she embarks on a frantic mission to control a whimsical Yin-Yang Orb, guiding it to strike various targets, including cards and formidable bosses. With her trusty gohei, Reimu can deftly maneuver the orb through cunning strikes, slides, and precise shots. As she faces relentless enemies firing projectiles, players can choose to counter by canceling out incoming shots or deflecting them, but only the orb holds the power to inflict damage. Each stage escalates in challenge, culminating in intense boss battles every five levels, where success depends on clearing all enemies or felling the boss. Players can select between two distinct paths—the Hell path and the Makai path—each offering exclusive stages and unique narrative endings. But beware, as every hit from enemy projectiles or even the errant orb will cost Reimu a life, making each maneuver a critical decision.
