Virtua Fighter 2 is a 3D fighting game where you pick from a roster of martial artists and battle through a tournament bracket. Each fighter uses a distinct real-world discipline—judo throws, kung fu strikes, pro wrestling slams—translated into move lists you execute with directional inputs and button combos. Matches play out in polygon arenas with ring-outs possible if you're shoved past the boundary. The tournament's run by a shadowy syndicate collecting combat data to refine Dural, a boss character who borrows techniques from the entire cast. Training mode lets you drill specific moves. Versus mode supports head-to-head matches. The game uses an eight-way directional system combined with punch, kick, and guard buttons, rewarding players who learn frame timing and counter opportunities. Expect a methodical pace compared to flashier fighters—success hinges on reading your opponent's stance and punishing whiffed attacks.
