Virtua Fighter 3 is a 3D arcade fighter that expands the series roster with two newcomers. Aoi Umenokoji brings Aiki-jujutsu techniques—a grappling style focused on redirecting attacks—while Taka-Arashi introduces sumo wrestling mechanics, using weight and throws differently than the existing cast. The game refines the series' signature three-button system (punch, kick, guard) with improved movement and counter options. Arenas now feature uneven terrain, adding positional strategy absent in earlier entries. Visually, character models gained detail over Virtua Fighter 2, though the gameplay changes matter more than the cosmetic upgrade. Taka-Arashi wouldn't appear again until much later in the franchise, making this his brief debut. If you're after technical 3D fighting with distinct movesets per character, this iteration added variety without overhauling the core formula.
