Anno 1602 is a construction and trade strategy game where you colonize a chain of islands starting with one ship, a few settlers, and basic supplies. You pick an island to settle, build farms and workshops to produce goods, then expand into trade networks with AI players and indigenous populations. Each island has different resources, so you'll need multiple settlements to access everything. The economy is production-chain based—raw materials feed workshops that create tradeable goods. As your towns grow, you'll manage citizen needs, negotiate with neighbors, and defend against pirates. Diplomacy matters: you can trade peacefully or train soldiers and build fortifications if relations sour. The game lets you design town layouts and choose whether to focus on military dominance or economic partnerships.
