Anomaly: Warzone Earth flips tower defense: you command the attacking convoy, not the towers. Aliens have fortified Baghdad and Tokyo with turrets, and you're steering an armored column through their killzones. You plot the route on a street grid, then drop into real-time as the Commander—a ground unit you control directly—using deployable abilities to keep your convoy alive while it grinds through static defenses. Between waves you spend scavenged resources on new vehicle types or upgrades. Each mission demands a different squad composition and path; what worked before won't necessarily carry over. The campaign mixes route planning with on-the-fly tactical adjustments as turret patterns shift. Two additional modes ramp up the tempo without the story scaffolding.
