Comix Zone is a side-scrolling beat-'em-up where you play as Sketch Turner, a comic artist literally trapped inside his own panels after a villain escapes the page. You punch and kick through hand-drawn frames—each panel is a separate arena you tear through to reach the next. Combat's straightforward but punishing: enemies swarm, health doesn't regenerate between fights, and the creator himself sketches in new threats as you advance. You've got a pet rat named Roadkill who can scout ahead or attack, plus the ability to rip chunks of the background apart for weapons or hidden items. The comic book framing isn't just aesthetic—panels crack when you hit them, speech bubbles pop up mid-fight, and you literally move from one box to the next. Two endings hinge on a timed final fight. Short, tough, and unapologetically '90s.
