About

Darius is a side-scrolling shooter where you pilot the Silver Hawk through branching zones packed with aerial and ground threats. It's built around an unusually wide playfield—originally displayed across three arcade monitors side-by-side—that lets waves of enemies and terrain scroll horizontally with more breathing room than standard shooters. You've got forward missiles and bombs, upgradeable through power-ups dropped by specific foes. Each zone ends with a boss fight, after which you pick your next destination from a branching map of 28 total zones. That non-linear structure means runs can take different routes depending on your choices. The tri-screen setup was the main hook in arcades, giving the game a panoramic feel that set it apart from cabinet neighbors. If you want a shooter with route variety and a distinctive visual format, this delivers both.
