Donkey Kong Land 2 is a platformer where you control Diddy and Dixie Kong across side-scrolling levels to rescue the kidnapped Donkey Kong from K. Rool, who's holding him hostage for the banana stash. You run, jump, and roll through stages packed with traps and enemy Kremlings, hunting for hidden items along the way. Five rideable animals—Rambi the rhino, Squitter the spider, Squawks the parrot, Rattly the rattlesnake, and Enguarde the swordfish—show up in certain levels to help you smash through obstacles or reach new areas. Each animal has distinct movement abilities that change how you tackle a section. The Game Boy screen means tighter level design than the SNES original, but the core loop of precision jumping and secret-hunting stays intact. Solid pick if you want portable platforming with animal buddies.
