Music rhythm game where up to four players perform songs using guitar, drum, and vocal controllers. You hit notes as they scroll down the screen, matching the rhythm of 85 licensed tracks. Drop-in/drop-out lets friends join mid-song without restarting. You can form bands with any instrument combo—four guitarists, three drummers and a singer, whatever works. Rockfest mode pits players against each other through various scoring challenges. Song-specific objectives unlock new avatars and gear. Playable musicians include Johnny Cash, Carlos Santana, and Kurt Cobain, or you can design your own rocker. Compatible with most previous Guitar Hero controllers. Supports user-created tracks through GHTunes and downloadable songs, including backward-compatible content from earlier entries. Career mode and online multiplayer return with refinements aimed at mixed skill groups playing together.
