First-person shooter where you play as an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper navigating war-torn New Mombasa during a Covenant invasion. As the Rookie, you explore the ruined Kenyan port city on foot—no shields, no Spartan armor—piecing together what happened to your scattered squad. The campaign alternates between the Rookie's solo night missions through debris-filled streets and flashback sequences playing as other squad members. Combat feels more grounded than mainline Halo entries since ODSTs are regular soldiers, not supersoldiers. Includes Firefight, a wave-based co-op mode where teams defend against escalating Covenant attacks, plus all Halo 3 multiplayer maps with three additional battlefields. The quieter, noir-tinged atmosphere contrasts with the series' usual large-scale warfare. Works if you want Halo's shooting mechanics in a smaller, moodier package focused on infantry survival rather than saving humanity.
