IL-2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles is a combat flight simulator set during the Soviet-Finnish Continuation War from 1941 to 1944. You pilot period aircraft through historical missions on the Eastern Front's northern theater. The game shifts focus from its predecessor's broader World War II scope to this specific conflict between Finland and the Soviet Union. Expect detailed cockpit instrumentation, realistic flight physics, and missions reflecting actual engagements over Karelia and the Baltic region. Aircraft handling demands attention to engine management, stall speeds, and weapon ballistics. Weather conditions and damage modeling affect performance. If you want a technical flight sim grounded in a lesser-known theater of the war, this delivers that specificity.
