Lightning Returns is an action RPG with a 13-day time limit. You play as Lightning, tasked with saving souls before the world ends—but the clock runs constantly, and you can't save everyone. Time management is central: each quest, battle, and exploration segment consumes hours from your finite countdown. Combat uses a customizable schema system where you swap between different outfit-based loadouts mid-fight, each with distinct weapons and abilities. You'll need to prioritize which characters to help and which storylines to pursue, since completing everything in one playthrough isn't possible.
