Might and Magic: Book One - The Secret of the Inner Sanctum
First-person dungeon crawler where you build a six-member party and explore the continent of Varn hunting for the Inner Sanctum. You'll navigate grid-based towns, wilderness, and dungeons—caves, castles, forests, islands—fighting monsters in turn-based combat. The game offers 250+ weapons and items plus 92 spells spread across clerical and wizardly schools. Character creation lets you pick from five races and eight classes, rolling stats to shape each adventurer. Combat's frequent, encounters random. You'll map locations, solve riddles, and chase down clues about what the Inner Sanctum actually is. Expect old-school difficulty: permadeath's optional, but healing costs gold and resting doesn't always work. No hand-holding on where to go next. If you're comfortable with 1980s interface conventions and enjoy methodical exploration over narrative, this laid the template for the series.
