Nihilumbra is a platformer where you control Born, a being fleeing an all-consuming Void that devours everything behind you. You can't fight enemies initially—you avoid them while moving through five distinct worlds. The core mechanic: painting terrain with colors you unlock in each world. Blue makes surfaces slippery, green lets you bounce, brown adds friction. Touch the ground to apply these effects, altering how Born moves and how objects behave. The Void chases you constantly, erasing landscapes as you condemn each area by passing through. It's about environmental manipulation rather than combat, using color properties to solve traversal puzzles while staying ahead of destruction. The tone is melancholic—you're essentially ruining every place you visit just by existing there.
