Sengoku Rance
Turn-based strategy RPG set in a satirical version of Sengoku-era Japan. You control Rance through territorial conquest, managing resources while building alliances across a fractured nation. Combat unfolds in turns, with territory control determining your strategic options. Each region you target brings different characters into play—generals, rulers, and fighters with distinct abilities that affect both battles and story branches. The game mixes political maneuvering with army management: you'll negotiate, betray, or crush rivals depending on what serves your expansion. Expect dark humor woven through the narrative, which doesn't take its historical setting seriously. Character interactions drive much of the plot forward between conquest phases. It's dense—lots of systems layered together—so patience with menus and reading pays off.
