About

Sonic 3D Blast ditches the series' side-scrolling format for an isometric perspective. You control Sonic across themed zones, but the objective shifts: instead of racing to a goal, you're collecting small birds called Flickies and ferrying them to safety rings. Dr. Robotnik's trapped these creatures inside robots, so you'll bop enemies to release Flickies, then shepherd groups of them through each level. Lose track and they scatter—you'll need to round them up again. The game uses pre-rendered 3D models converted to sprites, giving it a distinct visual style for its era. Boss fights punctuate each zone with Robotnik piloting various contraptions. Hidden Chaos Emeralds unlock a proper final confrontation; skip them and Robotnik escapes. It's slower-paced than classic Sonic, built around herding mechanics rather than momentum.
