Splatoon 2 is a team-based shooter where you control squid-kids called Inklings who spray colored ink instead of bullets. You swap between humanoid form to fire weapons and squid form to swim through your team's ink, which refills your tank and lets you zip across the map. The goal isn't racking up kills—it's covering the most ground in your color or securing objectives, depending on the mode. Matches revolve around turf control: lay down ink, deny enemy movement, and use your squid mobility to flank or retreat. The ink mechanic ties movement, offense, and resource management into one system, making positioning and map awareness central to winning.
