About

Tempest is a 1981 arcade shooter built around a tube-shaped 3D playing field divided into lanes. You control the Blaster, a claw-shaped craft that slides along the outer rim, hopping between segments to blast incoming enemies. The game uses vector graphics to render its geometric arenas clearly at speed. Combat revolves around positioning—enemies crawl up lanes toward you, and you need to pick them off before they reach the edge. A SkillStep feature lets you jump to higher difficulty tiers based on past runs, so skilled players skip the easy waves. The tube layout shifts between levels, changing how you approach each stage. It's fast reflex shooting with a spatial puzzle layer, demanding you track threats across multiple lanes simultaneously. Good fit if you like score-attack arcade games that reward pattern recognition.
