ToeJam & Earl is a roguelike dungeon crawler starring two funk-obsessed aliens stranded on Earth after a spaceship crash. You explore 25 procedurally generated levels from a top-down view, hunting for 10 scattered ship parts while dodging hostile humans and opening mystery presents that contain random items—some helpful, others not. The game parodies '80s urban culture through its characters and enemies. Solo play works fine, but co-op is where it shines: the screen dynamically splits when players separate and merges when they reunite, plus you'll hear banter between ToeJam and Earl that single-player mode never reveals. Levels and loot randomize each run, so no two playthroughs follow the same path. It's Rogue mechanics wrapped in a satirical alien-meets-suburbia skin.
