Wild Arms is a turn-based RPG set in Filgaia, a fantasy world styled after the American frontier. You control three characters—Rudy, a boy who wields forbidden gun-like relics called ARMs; Jack, a swordsman; and Cecilia, a magic user—as they cross wastelands and dungeons to stop an otherworldly invasion. Exploration uses 2D sprites while battles shift to 3D models. Each character has unique abilities for solving environmental puzzles: Rudy's bombs blast obstacles, Jack's grappling hook reaches distant ledges, Cecilia casts utility spells. Random encounters pit your party against monsters in turn-based combat where positioning and ARM ammunition matter. The Western aesthetic—tumbleweeds, saloons, desert ruins—distinguishes it from the medieval fantasy common in '90s console RPGs. Expect a 25-30 hour campaign with optional sidequests and hidden ARMs to discover.
