1943: The Battle of Midway is a vertical-scrolling shooter where you pilot a P-38 across 16 levels hunting down the Japanese fleet that destroyed your carrier. Eleven stages pit you against warships—battleships and carriers serve as end bosses—while five are dogfights against bomber squadrons culminating in a Mother Bomber. You've got one life with a refillable energy bar instead of the instant-death setup from its predecessor. Two buttons handle standard fire and special moves: either a defensive loop or one of three powerful attacks that drain your health when used. Wiping out full formations of red planes drops power-ups like health refills or limited-time weapons that replace your default twin guns. The final target is the battleship Yamato. It's old-school arcade shooting with a stamina-management wrinkle.
