Battle City

Battle City is a top-down tank shooter where you defend a base from waves of enemy armor. Each stage drops 20 hostile tanks onto the field from the top edge—your job is eliminating every one before they flatten your headquarters (marked by a bird or eagle icon). Enemy AI splits focus between hunting your tank and rushing the base, so you're juggling offense and cover. Levels scroll across destructible terrain: brick walls crumble under fire, steel blocks don't, and you can reshape the battlefield between rounds with a level editor. Two-player co-op lets a second tank join the defense. Lose all lives or let the base fall and it's over. Straightforward arcade action with just enough tactical wrinkles to keep 20-tank gauntlets tense.
