Blaster Master is a side-scrolling action-platformer where you pilot a tank through underground caverns and explore on foot. You alternate between vehicular combat in sprawling tunnels and top-down segments inside confined areas, switching modes to access different routes. The tank handles terrain obstacles and enemy swarms, while your character enters doorways the vehicle can't reach. Boss fights against massive creatures require learning attack patterns and using both movement styles. Progression depends on finding power-ups that unlock new abilities—higher jumps, stronger weapons, access to previously blocked paths. The game doesn't hold your hand with maps or waypoints; you'll backtrack and experiment to figure out where upgrades let you go next. Expect trial-and-error navigation and pattern memorization.
