DCS World is a free-to-play combat flight simulator focused on high-fidelity aircraft systems and realistic flight modeling. You get two flyable aircraft at no cost: the Su-25T Frogfoot, a Russian ground-attack jet with guided missiles and unguided rockets, and the TF-51D Mustang, a WWII-era propeller trainer without weapons. Each plane demands learning actual startup procedures, navigation, and weapons employment if applicable. The sim runs on detailed physics for aerodynamics, damage, and weather. Additional aircraft, from F-16s to helicopters, are sold separately as modules with cockpits recreated down to individual switches. Missions range from single sorties to user-made campaigns. It's a study sim, not an arcade shooter—expect hours reading manuals before your first successful landing. Best for players wanting procedural depth over instant action.
