Kirby's Dream Land is a 2D platformer where you chase King Dedede across Dream Land to reclaim stolen food. You move left, right, up, and down through side-scrolling stages, using Kirby's signature inhale to suck up enemies and objects—either swallow them or spit them back as projectiles. Beyond that, you've got standard platformer moves: walk, jump, and fly. The game awards points and extra lives but lacks any save system, so turning off the Game Boy or hitting Game Over sends you back to the start. It's a short, straightforward run with no permanent progression. Expect classic 8-bit structure: reach the end of each level, rack up points that don't persist, and rely on natural abilities rather than complex power-ups. Good for quick sessions where starting fresh each time isn't a dealbreaker.
