Neverwinter Nights 2

A D&D-based RPG where you build a character from scratch using the Forgotten Realms ruleset and guide them from village nobody to regional hero. Pick your class—wizard slinging fireballs, fighter with a battle axe, rogue pickpocketing guards—then choose alignment, companions, and how skills develop as the story unfolds. Combat and dialogue hinge on dice rolls and stat checks. The campaign follows your rise against a large-scale threat, but the included toolset lets you build custom modules after you finish: script encounters, write dialogue trees, place terrain and buildings, design quests. If you want to run your own adventures for friends, the editor gives you the same assets the developers used.
