Rock Band

Rock Band is a rhythm game where up to four people play songs using instrument-shaped controllers. One person handles lead guitar, another bass, a third plays drums on a physical kit with foot pedal, and the fourth sings into a USB microphone. Notes scroll down the screen; you hit the right buttons or drum pads in time with the music. Miss too many and you fail the song. The game grades your performance and tracks your band's overall score. You work through a setlist of licensed rock tracks, unlocking new songs and venues as you progress. It's built for group play—solo modes exist, but the appeal is getting friends together to cover full band arrangements.
