Steins;Gate is a visual novel where you follow a group of friends in 2010 Akihabara who've rigged a microwave to send text messages into the past. What starts as amateur experimentation turns serious when a research organization catches wind of their device and begins tracking them down. The game uses branching dialogue choices that alter which timeline you're experiencing—your decisions don't just change scenes, they reshape causality itself. Expect lots of reading, minimal gameplay outside of choosing responses, and a plot built around the consequences of messing with time. The non-linear structure means replays reveal different outcomes. If you're after action or puzzles, look elsewhere. This one's for players who want a dense sci-fi story told through conversation and consequence.
