Total War: Warhammer merges turn-based empire management with large-scale real-time tactical battles across a fantasy setting. You pick one of four factions—human Empire, Greenskin hordes, Dwarf kingdoms, or undead Vampire Counts—each with distinct units and playstyles. Between battles, you handle diplomacy, research, settlement upgrades, and hero recruitment on a campaign map. Combat fields hundreds of soldiers alongside monsters, spellcasters, and flying units not found in historical Total War entries. Factions clash over territory using asymmetric rosters: Empire relies on versatile infantry and artillery, Greenskins swarm with numbers, Dwarfs anchor defensive lines, Vampires resurrect fallen troops mid-fight. Magic and hero abilities add another tactical layer during engagements. The campaign doesn't follow a fixed narrative—you set your own objectives, though faction-specific quests unlock legendary items and characters.
