Vertical scrolling shooter where you pick one of two characters—each backed by three different youkai assistants from above ground—to investigate evil spirits flooding up from underground. Collecting power items spawns up to four option satellites that circle your character; their firing patterns change based on which assistant you're using. You can detonate these options as bombs, and unlike earlier entries, each bomb type behaves differently—some alter gameplay mechanics temporarily. The campaign descends through multiple underground layers: you'll fight a bridge guardian, navigate an oni-populated city, infiltrate a spirit palace, then push into superheated depths where a pet crow has absorbed nuclear god-powers and plans surface invasion. After stopping that threat, an extra stage sends you to a mountain shrine for answers. Expect dense bullet patterns and character-specific shot types that reward replays.
