Diablo is an action-RPG that plays out in real-time from an isometric view. You pick a hero and descend through sixteen randomized dungeon levels beneath the town of Tristram, fighting swarms of monsters to reach Diablo, the Lord of Terror, in Hell itself. Combat happens immediately—no turns, no pauses. You click to attack, loot corpses for gold and gear, and level up as you go. The dungeon layout changes each playthrough, so routes and enemy placement stay unpredictable. Equipment drops frequently, letting you swap weapons, armor, and spells to handle tougher floors. The setting is the Kingdom of Khanduras in a dark fantasy world called Sanctuary. If you want loot-driven combat with procedural dungeons and don't mind older graphics, this laid the template.
