Dragon Quest VI: Maboroshi no Daichi
Turn-based RPG where you explore two parallel worlds—a Lower World and an Upper World—switching between them through wells and staircases that connect the realms. The game's structure centers on navigating these mirrored dimensions, each with distinct towns, dungeons, and NPCs. Combat uses the series' traditional turn-based system with a party of characters you recruit along the way. The medieval setting features castles and magic, but the dual-world mechanic is what defines progression: solving a puzzle in one realm often requires visiting its counterpart. You'll backtrack frequently as new paths open up. This was the final game in the Zenithia trilogy for Super Famicom, developed by Heartbeat rather than the series' usual team. Expect slower pacing and more environmental puzzle-solving than earlier entries.
