New Super Mario Bros. 2
Side-scrolling platformer where collecting coins is the explicit goal—not a side activity. You're chasing one million coins across levels filled with Gold Flowers that turn Mario into a coin-spewing powerhouse. Standard Mario movement and power-ups return, but stages are redesigned around coin density. Rings spawn coins, blocks rain them down, and enemies drop them when stomped. The counter ticks up constantly if you're playing efficiently. Princess Peach gets kidnapped by Bowser's crew, giving you the usual excuse to run left-to-right through themed worlds. It's mechanically familiar 2D Mario with a hoarder's twist—every jump and stomp feeds the tally. Co-op mode lets a second player join as Luigi. If you've ever wanted Nintendo to validate your coin-grabbing compulsion with an actual endgame target, this does exactly that.
